Intro And Weekend Weather
SPEAKER_00Hi, this has been your brother, Steve Pellet here, and I am the weatherman. Hope you had a great weekend. Beginning of summertime, Father's Day, both Saturday and Sunday. Beautiful weather both days with temperatures and humidities just about where you like. Now
Pattern Shift And Needed Rain
SPEAKER_00it's going to be changing for the mid-Atlantic and Northeast. We do need some rainfall. And we could get it into possibility of some showers and thunderstorms. Most of the weather models have been giving us uh between a half and three-quarters of an inch
Why Rain Totals Vary So Much
SPEAKER_00of rainfall. But when you're dealing with thunderstorms, you're going to have tremendous downpours in just uh short areas or very narrow areas. And uh widespread rains are usually associated with big storms or low pressure systems. So if you have thunderstorms and scattered showers, your amounts of precipitation may vary
Northeast Flight Delays Risk
SPEAKER_00a bit. But either way, they are going to cause some delays going into North LaGuardia, JFK, and much of the New England states, as well as these areas of showers and thunderstorms will be moving in during the afternoon hours today. But weather-wise, we are looking at high temperatures near 80 with bring down umbrellas, scattered showers and thunderstorms across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast
National Travel Weather Snapshot
SPEAKER_00at night. The showers and thunderstorms gradually end, but there could linger into the early morning on Tuesday with overnight lows down into the low to middle sixties.
Tuesday To Thursday Warm Up
SPEAKER_00And early clouds and some showers giving way to sunshine on Tuesday, with Tuesday's high temperatures, also 75 to 80 degrees. Wednesday, 80 to 85. Beautiful weather, high pressure builds down from Canada. We'll give us nice conditions even into Thursday, although it will start warming up a bit. The weather does look quite delightful for this first week of summertime 2026. But we are going to get some much-needed rainfall for today, especially this afternoon and tonight. As I mentioned, traveling by air could be some delays in the North LaGuardia and JFK area, both in and outbound, especially during the afternoon and evening hours today. Similar situation in Houston, uh, also in Dallas, with some locally severe weather, mostly to the north over Oklahoma, but close enough by to give some uh worries across to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Chicago is looking pretty good. No problems weather wise into Minneapolis, St. Paul. The frontal system will be approaching Atlanta, so most of the rain will be later in the day and at night. West Coast dry conditions from LA, San Francisco, all the way up to Seattle, Tacoma. Looks like good weather on the West Coast today.
Wrap-Up And Tuesday Check-In
