Welcome And June Recap

SPEAKER_00

Hi, this is Bidi Rollinger Steve Pellet here and I am the Weatherman. Thanks for checking into theweathermanpot.com on your Tuesday. It is the 30th day, the last day of the month of June 2026. Really was a pretty nice month. I didn't have our hot days. We had some nice, cool, beautiful weather too, and a little bit of rainfall. Really not as much as we really need, but uh good soaking rain for about two or three days would really put us back in the positive column, at least for the next couple of

months. But now we're getting into some heat. We have an extreme heat watch and effect from July 1st, tomorrow, Wednesday, from noontime up until the 4th of July at 8 p.m. Now, during that period of time, we're going to find temperatures. Actually, today we have a good possibility of temperatures reaching or exceeding 90 degrees. But the real heat, up by about 10 to 15 degrees, really arrives on Wednesday. And at last Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. And each day does have the possibility of 100 degree

plus readings. Now we're taking a look back at the record books for the first few days of the month of uh July. We see that record is set for Nework Liberty. We go all the way back to 1901, 102 on the first, 103 is the record for uh also the 2nd of July. That was set back in 1901, both days, 1901 for the first and a second. And then we get up to a 105. That was actually set back in 1966. That was also during a period of some dry weather. If you remember back we had that uh drought condition in the mid-60s. Save water. Well, there's water to save used to be the popular commercial. And uh looking at the 4th of July, we see 105 also in 1949. So temperatures have gotten this hot in the past. Early 20th century, 1901, uh, mid-20th century, around uh 1949 and uh 1966 as well. So we are uh going to flirt with those records over the next

Heat Safety Rules That Matter

several days. Now, when we do have the heat, you have to remember to be prepared to stay cool and to stay safe. That means drinking plenty of water. Stay away from the beer and the alcohol, it's just gonna make it hotter. Fruit juice is also good too, but plenty of water. Stay in cool places. In the shade, you'd be surprised. In the sun, it's about a good 10 degrees warmer. So if it's 103 in the sun, you're gonna actually feel like 112, 115. So you've got to stay out of the sun, stay in cool places or uh anywhere you might have in your communities some places where you can go to where there are cool down areas. And wear light clothing of light color and material. And uh that is also very important in the heat. And of course, avoid the peak hours of sunshine. That's 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. And check on others. Never leave kids or pets in their cars. I can't tell you how many times I've been contacted by the uh animal control officers to find out what the temperatures were when they gave people citations for keeping their dogs in the car or their pets in the car. Can't do that, even if you crack the window. You'd be surprised how hot it gets in

Shore Impacts And Hot Nights

there. So, what exactly does a heat watch entail? As extreme heat watch remains in effect from Wednesday afternoon through Saturday evening. Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 110 degrees are possible. Where and it's going to be just about all over New Jersey. Along the shore, you probably will have a little bit of a sea breeze each afternoon, but getting to that sea breeze, uh, 10 o'clock, 11, 12 o'clock, you may not hit that wind uh off the water just yet. And that means it gets very hot on the sands. Keep that in mind. And uh, we are looking for heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events like we are going to be having. Very warm low temperatures at night, mid-70s to the low 80s, will not offer any relief from the heat. Is that the sun will be down at least? Uh, this combined with multiple days of near record breaking temperatures will exacerbate the impacts from the heat and humidity. So this uh really is quite important. You can see that what happened a couple of times in 1901 when I read earlier, but uh usually you have these heat waves uh between two and four days. This one could go as much as six days. Keep

that in mind. So here's the weather forecast. Sunny skies today are high temperatures that reach the lower 90s, then partly cloudy at night, 71. Tomorrow it starts to heat up. Sunshine, mid to upper 90, some places 100, heat indexes to 104 on Wednesday, Thursday, sunny and hot near 100, 100 to 105 on Friday. Even the 4th of July, Independence Day, the big 250th celebration, could reach 100 degrees, and a chance of some late-day thunderstorms to end all
