Welcome And The Date
SPEAKER_00Hi, this is Bindy Roger, Steve Pelletier, and I am the Weatherman. Thanks for checking into the WeathermanPod.com on your Wednesdays. The first day of the month of July, 2026.
Fourth Of July Heat Wave
SPEAKER_00Getting close to the 250th anniversary of the starting of the United States of America, Independence Day, and that's on Saturday, and temperatures up until then are going to be very hot. Extreme heat warning is an effect from today, right up into the 4th of July at around 8 p.m.
Day By Day Forecast Ahead
SPEAKER_00We are looking at uh sunny skies today. It's gonna be hot, temperatures ranging in the mid to upper 90s, and there is a chance of a shower or thundershower in the afternoon, just a 30% chance for the afternoon or early evening, then partly cloudy. Overnight low temperatures only going back down to about the mid-70s. Sunny and hot tomorrow, all the way up into the lower 100s. Heat index values up to 109, and again, of course, extreme heat warnings in effect on Thursday as well. Thursday night mostly clear, 81 for nighttime lows, some places in the 70s, especially off to the west and north. Sunny skies hot about 100 to 105 on Friday. Fourth of July, Saturday, it looks like a mostly sunny and hot day highs near 100, but the chance of some late day and evening thunderstorms, a probability at 40%. Similar situation coming up on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday of next week, although temperatures trending a little bit cooler. 92 on Sunday, 86 on Monday, and also the mid-80s on Tuesday of next week.
What An Extreme Heat Warning Means
SPEAKER_00So uh extreme heat warning is in effect. What does that mean? Well, it means that extreme heat warning remains in effect from noon on Wednesday up until 8 p.m. on Saturday. Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values between 100 and 110 degrees expected each day. The heat index combination of sunshine, uh, the actual temperature and humidity, uh, making it uh feel like uh the actual heat index number. I mean, your body has to react to that instead of what the actual thermometer will indicate. This is gonna be all over New Jersey, southeast New York, uh Del Marva, eastern sections of Pennsylvania, also uh Maryland, and in uh Delaware and in the DC area as well. So it looks like it uh will continue uh right up through, say, Saturday and Saturday, but look at now up to 100 degrees for the 4th of July. So it's gonna be a tough holiday weekend coming up. But hopefully we'll be able to keep
Simple Steps To Stay Safe
SPEAKER_00cool. Of course, drink plenty of water, light fitting, and light colored clothing. Don't exert yourself. Don't be out some between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., the time of maximum heating and sunshine, and seek places of cool air. Have some air conditioning or a shade area. Keep in those places. Of course, don't exert yourself in the afternoon heat.
Heat Impacts On Air Travel
SPEAKER_00Traveling by air today looks like pretty good weather for today, although uh you're gonna have delays at the area airports in the east wherever the heat is. Uh, that's because the airplanes will take longer runs on the runway to get off because of the thin air caused by the heat, especially during the afternoon and early evening. So that's gonna be a consideration out on the runway. So expect some delays during the afternoon, evening, during the times of maximum heat. Also, be some thunderstorms across the eastern uh Hudson Valley, up the New York throughway
Storm Threats And National Outlook
SPEAKER_00up to about the Albany area. Could be some locally severe weather in western Connecticut, western sections of Massachusetts, southern Vermont, and New Hampshire. So up in the Boston area should be okay, but there will be some delays getting in and around those thunderstorms expected to develop during the afternoon. Looks like generally dry weather in Charlotte, but hot, hot in Atlanta. Some late-day thunderstorms, late-day thunderstorms in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Houston and Dallas looking dry but hot. Chicago hot. Also uh very warm weather up in the Minneapolis St. Paul area. Might be some afternoon and evening showers. West Coast Drive from LA, San Francisco, all the
