Northeast Heat Peaks Near 100
SPEAKER_00It's Independence Day Saturday, and we are looking at more heat across the northeast. A mostly sunny and hot day, temperatures in the 90s to near 100 degrees, and a good possibility of later afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms.
Overnight Severe Storm Damage Recap
SPEAKER_00We have some very severe thunderstorms moved through much of northeastern Pennsylvania and central and northern New Jersey, and even down into the coast. Even touched into sections of New York City as well. That was during the middle evening hours, just before 8 a.m. Many places with strong gusty winds, trees and limbs, and power lines down because of these storms. And that's typical of these type of storms when you have all this heat. Another situation coming up today with those showers and thunderstorms later in the day after highs near 100 degrees.
Sunday Cooling Then Stormy Start Week
SPEAKER_00Sunday is also going to be mostly sunny, then possibility of some showers and thunderstorms. Probability increasing to 60% by later in the day and at night. High temperatures on Sunday are only up to 85 degrees. It looks like showers and thunderstorms are going to be with us on Monday and Tuesday of next week. Hopefully some drier weather about the middle portion of next week, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Highs will range in the 80s to near 90 degrees. Nighttime lows in the 60s to lower 70s. So some pretty good weather coming up after some very rainy and much needed rainy weather expected in the early portion of this upcoming
Flight Delay Risk In Storm Corridors
SPEAKER_00week. If you're traveling by air today, again, very hot conditions in the northeast will be accompanied by showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening hours on your Saturday. So there will be some locally heavy delays in the later afternoon and evening on this 4th of July, Saturday afternoon, and Saturday evening. That'll be in the Norwich, New York, LaGuardia, and also up into the Boston area. DC also going to have the problems with some showers and thunderstorms. Dry weather generally in Charlotte, and it looks like Atlanta will also be on the dry side. Central and South Florida could be some locally heavy thunderstorms along the coast. So there'll be some delays into South Florida during the afternoon and evening hours
