Welcome And Holiday Weather Setup

SPEAKER_00

Hi, this is Bidi Roger, Steve Pellet here, and I am the Weatherman. Thanks for checking into the WeathermanPod.com on your Sunday, fifth day of the month of July, 2026, and more heavy thunderstorms rumbled through the mid-Atlantic and Northeast during the afternoon and evening hours on Saturday, the 4th of July. Putting a little damper in some of the uh fireworks displays here and there.

Stationary Front Fuels Heavy Rain

SPEAKER_00

But for the most part, we are looking at uh even more rain and showers and thunderstorms from a stationary front that lies just across much of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and into New Jersey in the northeast. That stationary front is a pathway for areas of low pressure working its way out of the Midwest to move eastward. That's going to bring us between one and three inches of rainfall over the next 24

Today And Tonight Forecast Details

hours. So our forecast for today is calling for partial sunshine, but there will be showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Some of the rain could be heavy at times, along with some strong gusty winds and heavy downpours. That's what we've been seeing for the last couple of days. Our high temperatures generally ranging only between 82 and 87, not as warm because of the extra cloud cover and the prospects for rain. It looks like showers and thunderstorms likely tonight, still with some downpours. Overnight low temperatures will range back in the 60s to lower 70s.

Monday Flooding Risk And Humidity

SPEAKER_00

More of the same on a Monday, a mostly cloudy day, some sunshine at times, but also showers and thunderstorms. Some locally heavy downpours are possible, some highway and street flooding is also a fair bet for Monday and Monday night. High temperatures for the day will only range in the upper 70s to near 80 with high relative humidity, and some leftover showers will be with us during the overnight, Monday to Tuesday, may linger into Tuesday morning, but then the trend will be towards clearing.

Midweek Clearing With High Pressure

SPEAKER_00

There's a big area of high pressure building across the Great Lakes, and that's going to be moving down into the northeast. That should give us some pretty good weather for midweek, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week, with temperatures generally in the 80s, daytime, 60s to lower 70s at night.

Air Travel Delays And City Impacts

SPEAKER_00

Now, if you're traveling by air today, probably will be some extra delays during the later afternoon and evening hours. It looks like the early going on Sunday not too bad, but later in the day and at night, New York LaGuardia, JF Campbell dealing with those thunderstorms once again, as they have for the last couple of nights. Up in a Boston area should be dry. DC also messing with those showers and thunderstorms as well. Similar situation in Philadelphia. Also looking at some rainy weather in Charlotte. Rain is also a good possibility for Atlanta and Central and South Florida. So some delays getting into there as well. More showers and thunderstorms in Chicago, although it looks like the trend will be towards drier weather. Houston and Dallas will be drying out as well, just still on the hot side. Maybe some late day thunderstorms in DFW. Los Angeles and San Francisco looking dry. Maybe some occasional rain across Central California, but up in the Pacific Northwest, both Portland and Seattle, Tacoma, all looking generally fair for your Sunday. I've been your walk, just Steve Pelletier, and I am the weatherman. Hope you have a great day today. We'll talk to you first thing on Monday. See you then.
