SPEAKER_00Hi, this has been your Steve Pelletier, and I'm the weatherman. Hope you have a great day today. We are looking at a heat advisory for your Thursday, the sixth day, the month of August 2026. Heat advisory
Heat Advisory And Humidity Explained
SPEAKER_00mainly because of high humidity values. The temperatures will reach up between 90 and 95. Nothing like what we had in early July, but uh it is going to be very uncomfortable. Showers and thunderstorms also a fair to um moderate threat for the later afternoon, early evening
Storm Timing And Temperature Range
SPEAKER_00hours. And we had some heavy thunderstorms move through the area during the daytime on Wednesday, mostly afternoon evening. But now more showers and thunderstorms are likely for later on today. As our high speech to the lower 90s, lows tonight, 73. Tomorrow looking mostly sunny, also in the lower 90s with a chance of late day and evening thunderstorms. Heat index values on Friday up to 101. Now it will be cooler along the shore and at the beaches. However, uh that will happen during the afternoon hours when the sea breeze does kick in. Every time those thunderstorms come on through, the winds will be shifting around. The temperatures will
Weekend Outlook And Drier Stretch
SPEAKER_00vary. Looking ahead to this upcoming weekend in August, we look for a mostly sunny day on Saturday, but temperatures will reach the lower 90s, a chance of some late day thunderstorms. A little bit drier though on Sunday and Monday, both days with sunshine, both days highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s.
Thunderstorms And Airport Delay Risks
SPEAKER_00Traveling by air today, of course, every time you have these locally heavy thunderstorms in and around the area, it does cause quite a bit of uh delays for the area traffic in and out of both these very, very active areas of Newark, LaGuardia, JFK, and even Teeterborough, Marstown, all those places up in the New York area, all demanding some type of attention as far as aircraft going through there. Philadelphia, of course, down to Maryland and in Baltimore and DC and Dulles. That's also going to have some locally heavy uh delays because of thunderstorms, mainly during the afternoon and the evening hours. But as we look ahead towards the daytime, we're looking at dry weather for the midday, but it looks like our weather situation closes down towards later in the day and at
National Snapshot Plus Smoke Advisories
SPEAKER_00night. Elsewhere across the nation, still locally heavy thunderstorms in Charlotte, so that'll cause delays there. Delays also in the Atlanta area, nothing major, but just enough to really bog things down across the eastern seaboard with airfare and with uh air traffic in mid-Atlantic and also South Florida showing showers and some thunderstorms there. That'll cause some delays. Uh Houston, Dallas, just dry and hot, dry and hot, also up in Minneapolis, St. Paul, but we are looking at showers in the Chicago area. Not too extensive, not too heavy. Uh, biggest problem across the Pacific Northwest, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, northern sections of Utah, northern sections of Colorado, all under smoke advisories because of Canadian wildfires. Dry weather, though, does exist from San Diego up to LA to San Francisco, all the way up to Seattle, Tacoma as well. But of course, with that, uh smoke and haze.
