August Temps Near Normal

Well, so far this month, our uh temperature trends across the Mid Atlantic Northeast have been averaging near normal to maybe a degree or so above normal.

Rainfall Running Above Average

Rainfall, however, has been well above normal. There's some hefty thunderstorms and some areas of rain and low pressure. That has brought rainfall from the Carolinas northward all the way into eastern PA, New Jersey, and central and eastern New England. So rainfall amounts right now are probably close to about one inch above normal, close to four inches so far.

Thursday Front Then Weekend Relief

And we do see the possibility of some thunderstorms with a strong cold front arriving sometime later in the day on Thursday. And after that front goes through high pressure, bills down from Canada. We'll give us some very nice weather for here, probably extending right in through this upcoming weekend, although by later Saturday and Sunday, there may be some stray, isolated thunderstorms later

in the day. But for today, look for sunshine. Highs ranging between 85 and 90 at night, mostly clear, about 60 to 65. Sunny weather for tomorrow. Temperatures back into the middle to upper 80s on Wednesday. Thursday, a chance of some afternoon and evening thunderstorms, then partly sunny, with high temperatures up to 85. Friday and Saturday, both days are looking sunny on north-northwest winds, and temperatures only ranging in the upper 70s and lower 80s, some very delightful weather. There will be a few stray isolated showers, but most of the time it'll be dry, rain-free, and very nice Friday and Saturday into the weekend. Similar situation for Sunday, but a little bit more of a better chance

Air Travel Weather Outlook

of some rain. Traveling by air today looks like great weather for the North, New York, LaGuardia, Philadelphia, JFK, all the way down to Baltimore, D.C., no problems weather wise there. Could be a few light showers up in the Boston area, but no major delays for aircraft and expecting good conditions in Atlanta and in Charlotte. Central and South Florida also generally dry, no problems there. Houston and Dallas worth it's going to be hot, but it's going to be dry. Chicago looks like some rain moving in later in the day, and showers ending up in Minneapolis, St. Paul. That high pressure is building down. Beautiful weather up there.

West Coast Drive from San Diego, LA, San Francisco. It looks also dry in Portland, Seattle. Most of the shower action is across Wyoming, sections of central and western portions of Montana and northern Idaho today.
