Thursday Storms And Severe Threat

And we had some hefty storms moved through the New York, New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania area during the latter portion of Thursday and Thursday evenings, in some places between one and three inches of rainfall. A couple places were reporting closer to four inches, and those heavy downpours have occurred uh generally between uh about 4.30 and about 6.30 p.m. And there was even some uh tornado uh tornado watches and some warnings across eastern sections of New York City and western Long Island, but that uh pretty quickly moved off to the east. Some of the heavier weather was down across southeastern PA, central and southern New Jersey, and also across Del Marva, where there were strong gusty winds and the possibility of some severe weather in those places being investigated

at this point. We are looking up for a better day today. Our skies should be partly sunny. Still a possibility of some showers, though, across the south, over Del Marva, over sections of southern New Jersey, uh, coastal sections of Virginia and the Chesapeake Bay area. However, as you head further to the north, it's just perfectly clear across New York State and much of New England. So a good amount of sunshine

showers and thunderstorms for later in the day on Saturday and Saturday night. Now, Saturday's highs will range in the upper 70s. Nighttime blows down to the middle 60s. You can see we're getting into the end of August. Temperatures just aren't getting that warm during the day, with uh less and less sunshine and more and more nighttime each and every day as we head closer to that first day of meteorological autumn, which is the first day of September. Sunday's weather looks better. It'll be a partly Sunday day, might be a late day thunderstorm with all the moisture underground going back into the atmosphere high of 84. But Monday, Tuesday, and even Wednesday of next week looking excellent across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. Looking at sunshine each day with highs generally between the upper 70s, low to middle eighties, maybe warming up around the middle of next week. Traveling by air today, here's the weather situation. Looks like uh decent conditions for the Northeast, of course, the high pressure building in. Uh, of course, uh there was tremendous amounts of delays with all that severe weather moving in in the late afternoon and evening hours on Thursday. But today the situation is looking better. So I think no problems weather-wise getting into the New York, eastern Pennsylvania, and Baltimore and D.C. area. Boston still could have a few night showers, but that's mainly during the afternoon. I don't see any major problems there. Chicago getting into another frontal system, so that will cause some thunderstorms and some isolated delays during the latter portion of today and tonight. Looks like some rain in Charlotte and Atlanta, so some slight delays in those places. Uh, looks like Central and South Florida also. Scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms, most looked during the day. It does look pretty good. Houston and Dallas generally dry. Dallas could have some thunderstorms. West Coast continues their dry trend. San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, all dry, all the way up to Seattle, Tacoma during this afternoon
