Why Days Are Getting Shorter

That's the beginning of what we call the Galactical Autumn. The reason we say that is because the days are getting shorter, the sun rises later, the sun sets earlier. By about three minutes each and every day, the sun just doesn't have the strength that it used to have, say in the middle of the summertime, even though that first official astronomical day of the first autumn equinox will be occurring right around the 21st or 22nd of this month. Northeast Forecast Haze And Storms

it. But the weather for today is going to be hazy and humid across the Northeast. We have a funnel system, series of areas of moisture moving in from the west. So showers and thunderstorms are a good possibility, the probability at 40%. But temperatures going up to about 85, well, that implies we'll have a few peaks of hazy sunshine from time to time as well. More showers and thunderstorms are likely tonight. Overnight low temperatures generally back down to about 65 to 70. Wednesday's weather also calls for showers and thunderstorms, and it'll be a northeast wind. weather. Temperatures will only be in the 70s. Daytime and evening on Wednesday. Wednesday at night, low temperatures back into the mid-60s. Thursday, a little bit better with a warm front moving toward north, cold front arriving from the west. That means skies will start off cloudy, give way to partial sunshine. Temperatures will get up to 85. Might be some late day and evening heavy thunderstorms. That'll be the cool front arriving. Then clearing for Friday, Friday 83, Saturday sunshine, Sunday sunshine.

National Outlook From Seattle To Houston

Labor Day Monday also sunny each day. Highs only 75 to 80. Nighttime lows, we'll be back into that more autumn like in the mid to upper 50. So you're going to really start feeling this weekend that little hint of autumn in the air. If you're flying by air today across the mid-Atlantic and Northeast, of course, with the shower and thunderstorm threat that we'll be having here, could be some light delays in the northeast. I don't think anything major. You're not looking at locally severe conditions at this time, but it will make for some uh passing showers and isolated thunderstorms, which could delay uh between a half hour to as much as a couple of hours. New York, LaGuardia, JFMK, and even up in the Boston area, there's a possibility of some rain as well. Looking down around Charlotte, high pressure is the main feature across the Carolinas. That means that the weather situation there is going to be basically oak. But we do have some scattered showers down in Central and South Florida, Atlanta also. Basically, a tropical storm will be in the Houston area, so there will be delays getting into there today. Dallas Fort Ruth is looking dry. West Coast also dry in San Diego, LA, and also up in San Francisco. Some rainy weather, coastal uh Oregon, and also up in Seattle, Tacoma. Might be some showers early, but it could be renewed.
