Storms Fade As High Pressure Builds

And my goodness, with all those scattered showers and thunderstorms that rumbled through around the midweek, we're finally going to get some breaks from all that wild weather associated with thunderstorms and cold fronts. And the strong thunderstorms gradually had moved across the mid-Atlantic, generally from Mount Maryland southward into Virginia during the overnight hours from Thursday evening into Friday morning. But for the most part, we're looking at some pretty good weather for today, finally. High pressure now building in from the northwest. There was a little frontal system moving through later in the day, and at night could give us an isolated thunderstorm later today or on this Friday

Weekend And Labor Day Outlook

evening. But expect mostly sunny skies and temperatures ranging between 80 and 85 today. The winds are going to be out of the west-northwest at 5 to 15. That's the big difference. Dew points will be lowering, skies will be clearing, and we're going to have some great weather for this weekend into a good balance of next week. Well, for tonight it'll be partly cloudy, but nighttime low temperatures back into the 50s and lower 60s, and again, northwest winds. A little bit of early cloud cover Saturday will give way to a clearing trend of sunshine. Should turn out to be a beautiful day. Nighttime low temperatures mid to upper 50s, near 60 degrees along the coast. Then Sunday's weather's looking mostly sunny, 70 to 75. That's a little bit below normal for this time of year. And even on Labor Day Monday, looking at sunshine up to 77. Then for the remainder of the week, Tuesday, right up through Thursday, each day showing sunshine. Each night generally fair. Highs in the upper 70s to near 80, nighttime lows near 60. That weather situation will continue right up through next Thursday.

Air Travel Forecast By Region

If you're traveling by air today, looks like generally excellent weather across the New England states. It's going to be dry in Boston. Looks no problems there. Weather-wise into the New York area. Also looking at some pretty good flying weather in and outbound. Down around Philly, Baltimore, and at Maryland, and also down into DC and Dallas, you're going to have some scattered showers and thunderstorms. So could be some slight delays into the nation's capital or Maryland at this point in the Baltimore area. Looking at generally fair skies in Charlotte and Atlanta, scattered showers and thunderstorms, still down in central and south Florida. Looks like some drying starting to take hold at Usa in Dallas, and no problems weather-wise into there. Could be some thunderstorms in the Chicago area. Dry weather in Minneapolis and cool too. West Coast showing fair skies from LA to San Francisco, but rainy weather in Portland and Seattle today.
