Impacts Flooding Winds Erosion

This is the afternoon update on the storm that's affecting the Northeast. There was uh lots of strong winds that moved into the northern portion of the Jersey coast and also uh coastal Long Island and much of coastal New England as well, causing uh flooding, excessive high tides, and beach erosion. And while we do have coastal flood warnings still in effect for the evening hours and into tomorrow morning, and a high wind or at least a wind advisory is in effect until about noontime on Sunday.

The situation still shows that the it's it's a storm that's offshore. It's really interesting. When you take a look at it in a satellite photograph, you can actually see an actual center or almost like an eye, but it's not tropical. So therefore, it's just a major nor'easter, and it is expected to continue to intensify. And even though it is drifting almost due north from its current position, still about a hundred miles due east of Atlantic City, it is going to intensify to the point where it

and west. And that's going to continue the areas of rainfall in and around central northern New Jersey, New York City, Long Island, and southeastern Connecticut and southern

New York, northeastern Pennsylvania as well, for at least the next 24 hours. And uh some of the models are predicting between one and two inches of rainfall for tonight and tomorrow morning. The main period of time that we're concerned with is as this storm gets to its height and reaches the coast will be sometime around overnight tonight, uh, say between 9 p.m. and around 6 a.m. on Sunday. The storm will then meander across our region and then completely start to dissipate and then move off to the north and east. And high pressure is going to build in. And by the time we get to Tuesday, it'll be in the 70s with sunshine, even into the lower 80s, expected for Wednesday and Thursday as we enter into the new month of October later on this week. But look for showers and some thunderstorms possible, mostly overnight tonight. Breezy 55 for a low. Tomorrow showers on and off throughout the daytime, middle 60s, windy weather, northeast winds 15 to 20, gusting to as high as 40 on Sunday. Monday, still some leftover showers, but the trend will be going towards clearing. Highs of 68 and nice weather for Tuesday, sunshine and 74.
